What's the most well-known/famous SOHC car? Preferably one that's known for its one camshaft. You'll see why I'm asking in a few minutes....

Any of the 5.0l V8 Mercs with the M113, or possibly the Ford Mod motors?

If pushrods count as a single cam engine then corvette by far. 7 generations, only a very small handful have been DOHC.

Where I went too, but it wasn't installed in a car from the factory. Used for swap-o's and racing. Aside from maybe one '64 Galaxie.

Dunno - best known DOHC might be the Jag XJ and E (and any others using the Jag six). The best known *engine* that's a SOHC design might be the Rolls Royce Merlin, but it's not *known for* being SOHC, nor being in a car.

I'm aware it's technically OHV but Corvettes used to be ridiculed for having an "old" engine design. And now they are feared *because* the pushrod design works so well. It is a part of the car at this point.
